[photogallerylink id=141880]Some disappointing news for fans of Michael Jackson and The Simpsons. Just a couple of days after the two year anniversary of the King Of Pop’s death, a shocking revelation has been made – Michael Jackson didn’t actually sing when he appeared on the hit animated FOX television show. Yeardly Smith, the voice of Lisa, has revealed to TMZ that the legendary singer, who voiced mental patient Leon Kompowsky, did not sing “Happy Birthday, Lisa” because of his record label. And the story gets more interesting!
When Jackson famously appeared on The Simpsons, he was not allowed to sing on the show because, according to reports, his record label blocked him from doing so. The song “Happy Birthday, Lisa” from the 1991 episode “Stark Raving Dad” was actually sung by a man named Kipp Lennon. According to Smith, Michael “hand-picked” the man to imitate his vocals.
In the episode, Jackson played Leon Kompowsk, a white man who acted like Michael. The song “Happy Birthday, Lisa” was written by Jackson specifically for this episode. Lennon later sang in place of Jackson in the The Jacksons: An American Dream miniseries.
