The debate over whether beauty pagents are good for kids wages on, this time it’s not pagents making people mad, it’s a photo shoot featuring a 10 year old kid! Her name is [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Thylane Loubry Blondeau [/lastfm] and she is a 10 year old girl who happens to have people all over the world in a debate! How young is too young to be posing for “sexy” photos in French Vogue magazine? While some say her photo spread in French Vogue was too sexy, others are saying it’s art. Art is expressive and she was just portraying an image. Innocent enough right??? Well, take a look at the pictures and see if you agree!
Here are the photos that have everyone in an uproar! Click here to watch the video of some of the photo’s Good Morning America’s reporter came across!
Thylane is no stranger to fashion, she reportedly was walking the runway for Jean- Paul Gauthier when she was just 5 years old. Is the U.K.’s eye for fashion different than ours here in the U.S.? As she posed in the French Vogue shoot wearing high heels, make-up and couture fashion in other shots… some say it’s just TOO MUCH!
With all the negative comments from the photo’s, one point that keeps coming up over and over is that what are other girls that are 10 years old and maybe even younger, going to think! Is this something that can mess with their self image? Are her pictures giving girls and unhealthy image?
Sheri Miles-Cohen, senior director of women services at the American Psychological Association says, “We don’t want kids to grow up too fast. We want them to be able to develop, physically, emotionally, psychologically and socially at an appropriate rate for their age.”
French Vogue said they were poking fun and added the caption that translated to, “What make–up, what age?” Then when the one photo of the young girl lying on a couch surfaced, critics started getting mad. Is this all just too sexy for a 10 year old?
If this was your daughter, niece, cousin or sister, would you be upset and pull her out of the shoot? Or are people over-reacting?
