Wear Purple to Support LGBT & Bullying on Spirit Day

Millions of Americans wear purple on Spirit Day as a sign of support for the LGBT community as well as a way to oppose bullying. This Thursday, on October 20th, individuals, organizations, schools, celebrities and everyone in between will show their support by wearing this fabulous color around the world!

Spirit Day was started in 2010 by teenager Brittany McMillan because of all the young people who committed suicide due to bullying. It is now celebrated annually on October 20 by wearing purple, which symbolizes spirit on the rainbow flag. All you have to do to participate is “go purple” as we celebrate the beauty of who we are as individuals!

You can go purple on facebook, twitter, tumblr and more! For more info on what you can do to show support check out GLAAD‘s website.
