If you’re a fan of Rihanna we have some good news and some bad news. The Barbadian songstress has confirmed that she will embark on a world tour in support of her latest release Talk That Talk. However, we’ll have to wait a while until we catch her onstage. The tour is set to begin in 2013.
“We’re going to be going on tour next year,” announced Rihanna on a radio show in the UK. “So this year we’re spending our time planning to make sure it’s bigger than anything we’ve done and something more impactful, maybe something different, so my fans can get excited about it.” Rihanna’s whirlwind Loud tour started in June 2011 and ended late December 2011, so there’s no wonder it will be a while until she returns to the road.
Don’t worry, Rihanna will have plenty to keep her busy in the meantime. She’s still steadily releasing singles and videos from Talk That Talk in addition to taking on new ventures like acting. Her feature film debut, Battleship, hits theaters on April 19th. The singer has been making the media rounds promoting the action flick, in which she plays the tough-talking Petty Officer Second Class Cora Raikes.
Her role in Battleship isn’t just a one-off thing. It’s the start of a budding acting career. When the BBC asked her if she had any future roles lined up she said, “Absolutely, there are plans for that this year – but I can’t really talk about the other projects yet. Battleship made me want to see what else I could do. I want to try different roles. Maybe comedy next. Who knows?”
As if putting together a world tour and acting wasn’t enough to fill her schedule, Rihanna says she’s continuing work on new music. “I’m in the early stages of collecting [songs] and putting together a team to work with. I’m travelling all over the world to find new sounds and new producers that people don’t really know of,” Rihanna tells the BBC. Hopefully she pencils in some time for a little rest and relaxation.
