The boys of the Wanted may not be big fans of certain pop stars but they are big fans of you: their fans. They spend a lot of time interacting with their Fanmily, as the Wanted fans are known, at airports, outside of shows and even on-stage during their concerts. The guys sat down with B96/Chicago to talk about some of their best fan moments and the gifts they liked most.
“Chicago fans are really friendly, you know?” Max George said. “Really friendly like everyone smiles…okay, we’ve got one crazy there,” he joked while pointing to the back of the room.
And while Tom Parker was most impressed with a collectable Light Saber that a Chicago fan gave Siva Kaneswaran, the other guys were eager to show off T-shirts fans had given them that they wore for their performance at B96′s Summerbash.
“I got a The Who T-shirt, which I thought I’d wear today,” Jay McGuinness said.
“Oh yeah, I got given this Muppets T-shirt,” Nathan Sykes said while showing it off. “I don’t know what the relatability is but…”
“We literally spend nothing on clothes, we just get given our stage wear!” Parker exclaimed.
“We no longer dress ourselves,” McGuinness confirmed.
Max George later Tweeted his agreement.
I’ve decided I’m not gonna pack t’s any more coz the fan prezzies are way better than what I buy!!

More touching than fan gifts, for the Wanted, are the fans themselves. When asked about the craziest thing that happened to them on stage, the first thing that came to Parker’s mind was bringing fans on-stage to sing with them.
“We did, well it wasn’t crazy but it was pretty emotional. We got four girls on stage the other night in New York. They literally…I’ve never seen girls so emotional ever in my life. It literally broke my heart. I was like, ‘Oh, that’s made my life,’” Parker said.
Sykes jumped in, adding, “You know what, it was watching it back. We are given a DVD of the concert and we watched it back…we’re in our own little bubble, everyone on our team it’s like a big family and all our band and stuff. So in watching it back we were like, ‘Wow, this actually means something to somebody.’ And that really meant something to us and obviously it’s really strange seeing it.”
George couldn’t resist being cheeky to Sykes’ sincerity, saying, “You’re gonna make me cry in a minute.”
