While the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be celebrating music, Drake will be dropping a new tune of his own. The Canadian rapper will be releasing a single from his forthcoming album on music’s big night.
The new song, according to Billboard, is titled “Started from the Bottom.” It is reportedly produced by Mike Zombie and Noah “40″ Shebib but the song has not leaked and details about Drake’s next album are scarce.
Drake is nominated for Best Rap Performance for “HYFR (Hell Ya F—ing Right),” Best Album for Take Care, and Best Rap Song for “The Motto.”
Out of his many hits, “The Motto” may have left the most lasting impression on pop culture. In November the term YOLO, which Drake coined on “The Motto,” was nominated, and bested by “GIF,” for Oxford Dictionaries USA’s word of the year honors.
A recent Saturday Night Live spoof gave the word a new twist. Kendrick Lamar and Adam Levine joined Andy Samberg’s Lonely Island crew to revive the word that had been pronounced dead by internet trolls.
Kendrick tops off the SNL clip with a tedious rap about building a conservative investment portfolio, which includes “4.2 percent” real estate investments and a “30-year mortgage.” [Check it out the spoof here]
