Pop Now: Miley Cyrus And Sinead O’Connor Get Mashed Up!
Hey guys! My name is Ryan Riccetti, and this is Pop Now, a weekly blog dedicated to everyone’s guiltiest pleasure: pop music! This week, we’re highlighting a much-anticipated mashup, guaranteed to stir up even more headlines for the controversial duo, Miley Cyrus and Sinead O’Connor. Take a listen, below!
You’d be hard pressed to make it through 2013 without having witnessed Miley Cyrus’s campaign to take over the world. From her twerking antics on the viral music video for We Can’t Stop, to her scandalous VMA performance, Miley’s every move has become a staple amongst music blogs, Internet forums, and even traditional news outlets.
And while Miley insists this is all simply part of a movement to express her newfound independence and promote her new album, Bangerz, not everyone has been so keen on the transformation.
After Miley revealed to Rolling Stone in September that her intimate video for Wrecking Ball was inspired by Sinead O’Connor’s 1990 video for Nothing Compares 2 U, a media frenzy ignited. No stranger to scandal herself, O’Connor released several, highly publicized letters to Cyrus about the consequences of her newfound independence.
Now, music fans across the country have been anxiously waiting for someone to combine the two chart-topping hits into one mega-mashup, and it sounds like DJ Serafin has finally delivered! Check out the video for Nothing Compares to Wrecking Ball, compiled by the Bay Area’s own Mike Relm, below!
So what do YOU think?? Is the mashup everything you were hoping for? Let us know in the comments below!
