Just when you thought Pitbull’s radio reign was about to let up, he’s already back in the game! After topping the charts with his Ke$ha-assisted smash, Timber, Mr. Worldwide has teamed up with rising girl group G.R.L. to bring the world Wild Wild Love, a brand new anthem that’s guaranteed to have you dancing and singing at the top of your lungs! As always, 99.7 [NOW!] is bringing you the best new music first, and we’re bringing Pit’s newest single to the Bay Area and beyond on the Radio.com App.
Continuing with last year’s folk-infused EDM trend (see Avicii’s Wake Me Up), Wild Wild Love kicks off with a plucky, pop-folk chorus perfectly tailored for the music festival circuit. Soon after, the track morphs into a trappy, electro beat to accompany Pitbull’s verses, as he flirts directly with the featured five-piece girl group: “You know I’d meet ‘em, greet ‘em, read ‘em, treat ‘em, always keep them feelin’ right. I don’t know if I can handle all five, but baby we can try tonight.” The song ends with an explosive crowd-chanting chorus that solidifies Wild Wild Love as a standout track among Pitbull’s past efforts and serves as a great introduction of G.R.L. to a mainstream audience.
For those unfamiliar with G.R.L., the group was formed several years ago by Robin Antin, creator of The Pussycat Dolls, after the original dolls split to pursue solo careers. Since being together, the girls have been taken under the wing of super-producer Dr. Luke (Katy Perry, Ke$ha, etc.), and thus, have scored a spot on the Britney Spears-headlined Smurfs 2 soundtrack with their first single, Vacation. The girls also recently released a second promotional track, Show Me What You Got, to tide fans over until their full-length debut is released later this year.
If you like what you’ve heard, make sure to catch Pitbull and G.R.L. performing live during his iTunes Festival set on March 14th. The event can be live-streamed on iTunes that night, so tune in to see Wild Wild Love come to life! Personally, I’m hoping for some Lion King magic… A guy can dream, right??
