The rental situation in San Francisco is getting to be pretty absurd. The practices of landlords raising rent on longtime tenants and people getting Ellis Act-ed have become commonplace, and things don’t really seem to be getting any easier. Photographer Scot Hampton is pissed, so he put together a photo essay parodying the ridiculous turn of the real estate market in San Francisco.

He got the idea initially a couple months ago, reading the Ellis Act Evictions Map a fellow artist created, and a few weeks later, he went down to the hardware store to buy up a few “For Rent” signs, and started shooting. Then he posted this on Craigslist.

Here are a few choice pics from his essay—head over to his project’s site to view all the pictures in SF For Rent, and keep on the lookout for his future Anti-Eviction projects.
