Ice T Calls Fernando And Greg To Talk About Law And Order SVU, Gays, Twitter, Madonna, And More!

The one and only Ice T calls Fernando and Greg to talk about the Law and Order SVU finale, Twitter, gossip, Madonna, and Kimye’s wedding!

Greg: Law and Order SVU has been renewed again … what is 16 seasons?

Ice T: I actually went on that show to do 4 episodes. I came on the last episode of the first season. This has been an incredible run.

Greg: How’d you get to stick around so long?

Ice T: You know what … I don’t know. I went on there just to do four episodes. I was living in LA. I’d worked with Dick Wolf before on four different television shows. I got the call and was like “ah okay four shows.” I just been sticking around. I keep my nose clean. I don’t get into any drama.

Fernando: You don’t make any outrageous raise demands.

Ice T: As far as Law and Order goes … nah … nah. I don’t push my luck. You got to know you are replaceable.

Fernando: There is talk of you and Coco doing a talk show?

Ice T: We had a thing with Ryan Seacrest Productions and we were talking about different things. You know television is interesting. You get a lot of ideas but bringing them to fruition. We have so many different things on the table. We have that [the talk show] and we have different shows that I produce becasue I have my own production company. So we’ll be back but it won’t be in the reality world. Reality is interesting. Entertaining people with your life get tiring after a while.

Greg: Hey Ice T, I know you are still doing music. I actually saw you years ago in a small venue in Austin. It was in a little bitty back room and I think I was the only gay person there. It was incredible. Then I got to tell you that your abs … at that time your abs were on and poppin. You gave me quite a show.

Ice T: Thank you very much. I am glad you enjoyed my abs.

Greg: The progression of that Ice T and what we knew about him and then on the show. And you end up with a gay son on the show. For me it kind of came full circle.

Ice T: It’s crazy. When you are in this business and coming from the streets you may not have a total grasp on gay people or other things like that. As long as I have been in the business now, I am totally immersed in the whole world. I know everything about it. Coco’s assistant is gay. One of my best budies is gay. The guy who does my hair on the show, Brian. We go to Madonna concerts and Prince concerts. I’ve got to the point that you do you and let me do me and then we all good.

Greg: Is it still exciting to do the show after 15 years?

Ice T: Yeah, absolutely because we’ve got the best guest stars. They throw the scripts at us. We don’t really know what the show is going to be until the day before we actually start shooting that particular episode. It is always interesting. It is fun. Wednesday is our season finale and the fact that the fans love it so much … that is what keeps you motivated. In this business, if nobody wants to hear your music. You quit. If people don’t want to see your show. You are like, “Okay. I’ll go away.” But as long as the fans want it … you got to give it to them.

Fernando: How much are you on social media everyday?

Ice T: Yeah I tweet. I try to tweet at least two or three times a day. I do the daily game. I also stepped it up with my podcast. I do a podcast at icetfinallevel.com. I’ve done ten of them. I try to just push what I am doing. I don’t like being in other peoples business that is the part of social media that I don’t really care about. I’n not gay so the gossip don’t do it for me.

Greg: We’ll leave that to Coco’s assistant and us.

Ice T: Coco and him sit up and they talk about everything thats going on. So I hear it off the side of my head. Oh my god, this person with this person and all that but me myself I don’t care about it.

Fernando: You don’t get involved but you stay informed.

Ice T: I was just doing an interview and this guy asked me about Kim and their wedding. And I’m like, I didn’t even know they were getting married.

Fernando: We’re not trying to pay attention but that is what they pay us to do.

Ice T: I absolutely understand. That is your job not mine. I got to do something else. I’m not hating just saying how I am.
