Sorry, Mission residents. It looks like if you’re craving some fresh Animal Style fries, you’re still going to have to hoof it to Fisherman’s Wharf to get your fix.
Despite a not at all nice April Fool’s Day joke hinting otherwise, In-N-Out is not coming to the Mission.
After several people spotted a poster smacked onto a wall near Elbo Room at Valencia and 17th street reading “COMING SOON: Fall 2015” with the In-N-Out arrow behind it, many got excited. However, as it turns out, it was all a prank.

In-N-Out has no knowledge of a second SF location (they said they usually post a phone number with their posters), however, they do have two set to open soon: one in Texas and one in Alameda.
And though the plan to build a branch in Alameda was not met with unanimous approval, it did get a green light, and about a year and a half later, they’re finally getting ready to open their doors.
A representative today confirmed to us that the Alameda branch is currently in the interviewing process, meaning the location will be open as soon as early May.
Better freshen up your Secret Menu chops.
