On Twitter today (Oct. 12), Gaga addressed Fischer directly, writing, “@SenatorFischer you are a female senator supporting misogyny. Putting our daughters in danger. Has your young courage faded?” The pop star’s message comes in response to Fischer’s announcement yesterday (Oct. 11) that she would be voting for Donald Trump after stating something to the opposite effect on Saturday (Oct. 8).

After hearing the leaked audio of Trump telling Billy Bush that, when came to women, he could “grab them by the p—-” thanks to his celebrity status, Fischer said it would be wise for the Republican presidential candidate to step aside and allow his current running mate Mike Pence to run. But Fischer has since clarified her position. “I plan to vote for Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence on November 8,” she said. “I put out a statement … with regard to Mr. Trump’s comments. I felt they were disgusting. I felt they were unacceptable and I never said I was not voting for our Republican ticket” (via Politico).

Gaga has been taking an increasingly active stand against sexual assault in recent years, even co-writing the song “Till It Happens To You” about her own experience with rape. When it comes to the “normalization of male sexual violence,” which she tweeted about yesterday (Oct. 11), Gaga knows that Trump’s language isn’t just locker room talk. It’s indicative of so much more, and she’s ready to hold Washington’s politicians–especially its female politicians–accountable.
