Former One Direction member Zayn Malik has released the first excerpt from his autobiography, Zayn, which comes out November 1. The photo-driven book tells the story of his life, from his childhood in Bradford, England to his runaway success, reports NME.
“I’m going to show you as much as I can so that you can judge me on my own terms, not on what the press or anyone else says,” Zayn said.
In the short excerpt Zayn reveals how going solo allowed him to pursue a new direction:
“Every lyric I’ve ever written has a story behind it. All the hard work that went into the creation of “Pillowtalk,” was worthwhile because, as soon as it was finished, I intuitively felt I was on the right path. It was a sick cut, nailing the exact sound I wanted to capture in my music. I was also able to sing about a subject that I hadn’t really been able to go near while I was in One Direction: sex.”
Zayn features hundreds of full-color photos, notes, drawings, song lyrics and personal stories that capture the pop star’s candid feelings about fame, success, music, and life.
Reportedly, Zayn is currently producing a new TV show based on the life of a boy band.
